Eugene Robinson is one of the aristocrats in the #NeverTrump New York/Washington D.C. media bubble.  He is the left-wing associate editor of the Washington Post and a regular “Morning Joe” supplicant.  No need to say more – but there is more to be said.

According to his Wikipedia profile, Robinson is also a frequent “liberal political analyst” (their words) on Al Sharpton’s “PoliticsNation,” “The Rachel Maddow show,” Velshi & Ruhle,” “Hardball” and “Meet the Press.”  In case you missed the connection, these are all partisan political shows on the number one anti-Trump, anti-Republican and anti-conservative media conglomerate on television – arguable the most biased so-called news network in the history of television.  MSNBC.

Multi-millionaire Robinson has found opinion-for-pay to be a lucrative business.  Whether he actually believes the mendacious material he spews for the benefit of the east coast progressive establishment — or he has been simply bought out for the money — is secreted away within his own soul.  But it does not matter.  His disinformative work product is malignant journalism in either case.

In a recent bit of propaganda-style reporting, Robinson argues that America is a nation deserving of the pity that he and his colleagues express in every way.  And why, pray tell, should America be pitied?  True to his #NeverTrump Resistance Movement membership, there is only one reason – President Trump.

Robinson does not cite some long-established civic malady that infects the culture – as you might find in North Korea or Iran.  Make no mistake about it, there are many nations deserving of pity of free people.  It is just that America is not one of them.

Robinson provides a litany of reasons that he would –actually he does– pity America.  They all centered on the policies and style of President Trump.  We are to be the subject of international pity not because of the high rate of Covid-19 cases, but because how Trump – and Trump alone – handled the pandemic.  The world community should pity America because we no longer are the patsy of past progressive policies.  We are to be pitied because Robinson’s governing “establishment” is being challenged for its smooth-running failures of past generations.

As a black American, Robinson is propped up as another voice of the African American community.   But in fact, he is the voice of the largely progressive establishment that has used black voices to rewrite American black history into a sanitized sales pitch for the Democratic Party.  He conceals the relevant portions of black history AND contemporary life to paint an inaccurate partisan view.

What is pitiful is that Robinson has become what Booker T. Washington warned against more than 100 years ago when he said:

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

Robinson is the type of person Malcolm X lambasted when he dubbed a certain class of black leaders as “house Negroes” and said that any black supporting Democrats was a “traitor to his race.”

Though much more articulate and sophisticated, Robinson is essentially playing the same role for the progressive east coast Democrat political establishment that Bumpy Johnson played for the Mafia in old Harlem – the high-paid messenger and enforcer.

Ironically, Robinson is a guy who rode America’s opportunity society to great heights of profit and prominence only to condemn the very conservative free society political culture from which he so greatly benefited.  THAT is pitiful.

So, there ‘tis.
