Democrats Doth Protest Too Much About The Bidens

If you follow the recent political narrative of the Democrats – echoed by their allies in the news media – there is nothing to look at regarding former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter vis-à-vis Ukraine.  There is no there, there.  All the accusations and suspicions are bogus and have already been debunked – so they say.

In the spirit of doth protesting too much, the Democrat House Managers referenced the Bidens 168 times in their brief in favor of Article One of their two-part impeachment of President Trump – abuse of power.  In fact, the entire Article One is predicated on an ASSUMPTION that the sole purpose behind President Trump’s raising the Bidens to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was to muddy-up former Vice President Joe Biden – hurting his presidential campaign.

The Democrat House Managers made so many defensive references to the Bidens that they appear to have elevated the father and son team back into the spotlight of suspicion.  They begged the question: Why was Trump suggesting an investigation?  More importantly – and more damaging to the Bidens – the House Managers opened the door for a full-throated review of the Biden issues.  The excessive defense of the Bidens now necessitates … demands … a detailed explanation by Trump’s impeachment team.  Were there sufficient grounds for the U.S. government to at least look into the Bidens’ activities in Ukraine as part of a larger corruption inquiry?

The House Managers have given the Trump defense team a huge opportunity to figuratively put the Bidens on trial.  They can now give answers as to why Joe’s and Hunter’s activities in Ukraine should be investigated – and why Trump had a right … no, an obligation … to propose an investigation.

Of course, Democrats and the left-wing press – who have created and propagated a false narrative based on their bogus assumption of innocence on the part of the Bidens – are claiming that any discussions of the Bidens are irrelevant to the impeachment.   They seem to believe that their 168 references are all the discussion that is necessary.  In fact, the issue is central to the accusation of abuse of power.

While Democrats and their media allies claim that Trump wanted to “dig up dirt” on the Bidens solely for the reason of hurting Joe as a potential – albeit uncertain — challenger to Trump.  On a number of occasions, House Intelligence Chairman and chief Trump prosecutor Adam Schiff falsely made such claims – and more egregiously re-drafted Trump’s language in that phone call with Zelensky in order to make it seem as though the President specifically asked for “dirt.”

In fact, at no time did Trump request “dirt” – nor did he even suggest or push for an outcome of the investigation.  But there certainly was more than enough reason to do a little investigating.  Hunter Biden scored a $1 million per year deal from a corrupt company, Burisma Holdings – a position for which he had no … nada … zero qualifications.  AND that daddy Biden used withholding military aid from Ukraine to get the prosecutor investigating corruption by Burisma fired – and replaced by a prosecutor who summarily dropped the investigation.

Joe Biden has been so fearful of any investigation of his and Hunter’s Ukrainian activities that it is possible to describe the former Vice President is one “chicken Kiev.”  (Yes, that is a groaner, but I could not resist.)

Whether it is incorporated into the impeachment trial or the subject of a later investigation, there is one thing that is very clear.  The Bidens’ activities in Ukraine need to be aired.

So, there ‘tis.
