Ted Cruz and Alyssa Milano Meet On Gun Control

“Hope” does indeed “spring eternal,” especially when two polar opposites like Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano can find common ground, even temporality within this politically charged and toxic environment.

The surprise meeting on Tuesday between the duo began with both throwing barbs at one another on social media, concerning the right of self-defense.

However, like most meetings between sworn adversaries, there’s always a “leading up moment,” the back-story which usually proves more interesting than the actual meeting.

Thus, for the sake of those individuals that may have been dozing, here’s a brief summary, which surprisingly didn’t begin with Cruz, but rather with his colleague, Texas lawmaker Rep. Matt Schaefer, who initially posted on Twitter why he refused to “use the evil acts of a handful of people to diminish the God-given rights of my fellow Texans.”

Arguing that current gun control laws, would not “stop a person with evil intent.”

Lurking on social media outspoken progressive activist actress Alyssa Milano quickly interject herself asking congressmen Schaefer or anyone on social media if they could “cite which passage of the Bible God states it is a God-given right to own a gun?”

Milano didn’t wait long before another Texan responded, giving the beleaguered actress a history lesson on guns, the Bible and the Constitution.

“An excellent Q, worth considering carefully w/o the snark of Twitter. It is of course not the right to a modern-day firearm that is God-give but rather the right to Life & the right to Liberty. Essential to that right to life is the right to DEFEND your life & your family.”

The Texas Senator then preceded to tweet out a series of posts, each one quoting scripture from the Bible.

“2/x The right to self-defense is recognized repeatedly in the Bible, eg Exodus 22:2: “If a thief is caught breaking in at night & is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed.” (Note, though, verse 3 says it IS murder if during daylight (ie, not self-defense).”

The bible lesson continued until somewhere within the deluge of tweets between Milano and Cruz, something extraordinary happened. Rather than angrily dismissing one another, Milano challenged Cruz to meet face to face, to discuss the issue of gun violence.

Cruz responded, “I’d be happy to sit down & visit next week about uniting to stop gun violence & about the Constitution. If we can have a civil & positive conversation—in the spirit of 1 Peter 4:8 as you suggest—despite our political differences, that might help resolve the discord in our Nation.”

It was also suggested by Milano that the meeting should be live-streamed, “so the American people can hear your (Cruz’s) bullsh*t.”

On Tuesday the two met along with gun control activist Ben Jackson and Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter died during the shooting in Parkland, Florida last year. The group streamed the entire meeting live on Sen. Cruz’s Facebook page.

Milano opened the meeting with her heartfelt concerns stating, “I look at my children and I’m terrified. I don’t know how to keep my children safe and it’s terrifying. And I think parents across the country feel this way,” Milano explained. “And I know you’re a smart, smart man and I know there are things that we differ on and I know that you’re smart enough to know the perception of what is out there about you. And I know you’re smart enough to know where that comes from. And, for many people in this country, your stance has made you almost like this caricature of a villain and that’s why this meeting was so important for me because I wanted to be able to look at you in the eye and know that you really are a human with a heartbeat.”

It was then the Senator’s turn to respond, “When it comes to an issue like stopping gun violence, I think the two sides believe the worst of each other,” Cruz said. “I don’t think either of those caricatures is right. If we can start from what I think should be a shared goal — which is, act to stop gun violence and stop mass murders like this in the future — then I think we can have a reasonable conversation about what policies are most likely to produce that.”

Adding, “I want to make sure people’s right to self-defense is protected; because the up to three million people a year protecting their home, I want to protect their lives too,” Cruz explained. “What I think is effective is focusing on the bad guys, is focusing on felons and fugitives and those with serious mental illnesses that are a danger to themselves or others.”

The meeting ended where it began, with both sides still believing their course in solving gun violence is correct… however, both sides came away believing the other is sincere in trying to confront the issue…it’s a start.

The article omitted the fact that Milano admitted that she has/owns two guns in her home.

Milano is a “has been” seeking to reinstate herself in the entertainment business. I have never thought she had even a trace of talent. She is a spoiled brat who has nothing else to do except attack Trump and advocate gun confiscation. Get a real job!

If this terrorist wants to keep her kids safe then she shouldn’t murder them like she did the first two.

WTFU, the only reason that the bereft Left wants gun control is that it will lead to people control! They are Godless, Satan worshiping, power-mad NWO-elitist ghouls that want to RULE and play God. There deviousness and evilness is exposed as they have no problem with killing babies but have a problem with capitol punishment for murderers! The dumb-(m)asses are aiding and abetting in their own demise! You leftists have a death wish – you’ll get it!
