Shame on MSNBC for 9/11 coverage … or lack there of
September 12

As is my habit, I start each day cruising the news outfits – usually covering CNN, MSNBC, FOX, OAN and Newsy.  This morning was very special since it is the 18th anniversary of the downing of the World Trade Towers in New York City, the crash into the Pentagon and the crash of United Airlines Flight #93 in a field in Pennsylvania – with the loss of almost 3,000 innocent people and injuring 6,000 more.  It was the most horrendous attack on the United States since the British tried to reclaim their colonies in the War of 1812.

I returned from my morning tennis in time to catch the 9:00 o’clock headlines.  CNN, FOX, OAN and Newsy were all doing special reports on 9/11 – from historic footage to coverage of the solemn ceremonies at the White House and Ground Zero in New York.

Stephanie Ruhle of MSNBC led off with the station’s usual anti-Trump narratives – this time spinning their interpretation of the departure of White House National Security Advisor John Bolton.  As is their custom, they analyzed the news through half dozen parroting pundits who were old Obama officials or compromised journalists.

After of few minutes of their repetitious talking points, I hit the remote.  CNN, FOX, OAN and Newsy were still on the 9/11 remembrance story.  As I arrived at FOX again, they were covering the ringing of the bell on the White House lawn – signifying the moment the first airplane impacted the North Tower.

Bells were also rung at the moment of impact on the South Tower, the collapse of each Tower, the moment Flight #93 crashed and the moment that last plane slammed into the Pentagon.

I quickly switched to MSNBC fully believing that even THEY would not ignore the memorial services at such a moment.  I was wrong.  They were still talking about Bolton and Trump in the most unflattering manner.  Anyone watching MSNBC would have thought that this was just another day in New York – and for them, it was.

To fully understand the implication of MSNBC’s coverage, you need to understand that the morning news line-up is not just something that happens.  Ruhle did not just start babbling on her own.  No. No. No.  The lead story of the day is the product of producers, reporters and all those paid “contributors.”  This stuff is mostly scripted.  The panelists have to be called the evening before.  Graphic folks have to prepare the clips and the lower screen messaging.

In other words, MSNBC – with malice of fore thought – decided to continue their anti-Trump screeds despite the meaning and importance of the day.  Ironically, as I caught the close of “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were wishing for greater unity in America.  Once the cameras were turned over to Ruhle, it was obvious that MSNBC had no intention of working for unity – quite the opposite.

Oh, I am sure they made some mention of the events of 9/11 at some point, but such minimal coverage – especially of the centerpiece White House services – only proves their contemptible political animus.

Ruhle is a gal who can wiggle and giggle like a teenager at the sight of Duchess Meghan Markel’s carriage passing by on her wedding day but does not have the decency and compassion to share one of America’s saddest moments with her viewers.  Shame on her.  Shame on all those others on MSNBC who could not put aside their political hatred for a few moments of reflection.

So, there ‘tis.
