Lindsey Graham: Abandoning Afghanistan Equals another 9/11

Wednesday marked the 18th anniversary of 9/11, an event that will live in infamy for all time. Every year, America briefly comes together to remember and reflect on that dreaded sunlit day, a bell will once again toll marking the moment the first plane hit the North Tower, and the names of the dead will once again be read at the sight that was once called “Ground Zero.” Dignitaries will make the media rounds, recalling the tragic event and the heroic efforts of firefighters, police and good Samaritans attempting to save lives, and in the process many losing their own.

The anniversary will always be a somber day of reflection; however, 9/11 is behind us, a watershed moment in our history that must never ever be repeated. We must pay homage to those who’ve perished before their time; yet, we must be vigilant of those seeking to destroy our way of life.

To that end, Senator Lindsey Graham reminded President Trump once again, not to abandon Afghanistan where terrorists plotted and executed their plan over 18-years ago, for a dubious peace, in which we’ve just once again been reminded how depraved Islamic terrorists like the Taliban are, that they would be in the process of negotiating a peace deal with the United States, while at the same time execute a suicide terrorist attack killing over a hundred innocent people, including a U.S. servicemen.

The South Carolina Senator has warned the Administration that withdrawing troops from Afghanistan would lead to “another 9/11” attack.

“If we left tomorrow, the Taliban cannot be trusted to take care of ISIS and Al Qaeda,” Graham said in an interview with Fox News. “They don’t have the capability. So when you ask our intelligence community…what would happen to America if we withdrew all of our forces. They tell us without any hesitation it would lead to another 9/11 in a matter of time.”

Afghanistan is currently a fledgling country, unable to rid itself of the countless hidden however influential terrorist groups within their country creating mayhem. To leave would initially create a vacuum in which terrorist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda would reconstitute, with one single aim to once again attack the American homeland.

Thus far the Trump Administration has reduced our forces in Afghanistan by nearly 90% to a historic low of around 14,000, while the Afghan Security Forces are now doing the brunt of the military operations against a mix of radical Islamic forces.

Although the Taliban is a domestic terrorist group creating havoc by killing innocent Afghans and coalition forces and undermining democratic institutions within Afghanistan, they have thus far not had a propensity to attack America’s homeland.

However, if America completely pulls out of Afghanistan, it is almost assured the events that took place prior to 9/11 would no doubt be in place once again in those isolated caves in Afghanistan, with a new crop of bin Laden’s plotting to attack America once again.

Ironically the rocket attack on our US Embassy in Kabul early Wednesday morning purposely coinciding with the 18th anniversary of  9/11, should actually be a “wake-up” call for President Trump to stay the course, in that this should no longer be an exit strategy out of  Afghanistan, but rather a realization that completely disengaging from Afghanistan under these harsh conditions, is actually inviting a repeat performance of 9/11.

Whether we like it or not, we’re in a “long generational war” against a relentless radical Islamic enemy, no different then what be-felled Europe during the Middle Ages.

    18 years of “generational battle,” 3 trillion dollars spent. and most importantly thousands of American lives lost, and we _still_ have no end in sight? The basic precept of this article, that by “abandoning” this quagmire we are inviting another 9/11 is ludicrous. 9/11 wasn’t organized from some dimly lit cave in Afghanistan, it was organized in Rhiyadh by our erstwhile allies the Saudis, led by Saudi Bin Laden, and carried out by 19 Saudia Arabians. This idiotic “don’t ring the bell before the fight is over,” sounds like Dick Cheney logic. Enough. We were attacked on 9/11 not because “they hate our freedom,” but because we’ve been actively meddling in the destinies of their countries in the Middle East since the end of WWII. We have no business being in Afghanistan, nor in most of the other 150 countries we have troops in. Time to reign in the Welfare/Warfare state. Time to get our troops home, and stop squandering our treasure on unwinnable wars. Just ask the Soviets about Afghanistan. Trump is doing exactly what he _promised_ to do in 2016, stop our foreign entanglements, and bringing our troops home. About damned time, but the Neocon war mongers and war profiteers sucking at the military/industrial complex tit can’t stand it. Now it’s time to pick a 3rd war with Iran! Enough already. You want to stop another 9/11? Then let’s start tending to our own damned business, and stop with the ridiculous fear-mongering tortured-logic “reasoning” like that found in this article. I’m with Trump: America first, and bring the troops home!

    Maybe if we bring our boys home and mind our own business, which is what we should have done to begin with, they will not have a reason to hate us!Don’t get me wrong I’m Republican, Conservative and Patriotic but, We ignored the futility of our predecessors in Vietnam. We lost thousands of our boy’s in a war we could have and should have won. We got our was handed to us, not by the NVA or VC but rather by Our own government and all the broken snowflakes.
    We have been in the Vietmiddleastnam way to long.Again it is not that we can’t win, it’s that we are not being allowed to win and in that let those idiot’s fight it out. Mind our own damn affairs, shut the F up and get out of their cross hairs. Just maybe they will have more reason to do what they have done for hundreds of year’s, Fight each other!
    I aplaud the President and I hope he keeps up the good work, F the rest of the world, stop giving millions of dollars to other countries( spend it on and in America) and Make America Great Again. It is shameful that AMERICAN’S are homeless, hungry and hopeless. Do the math, how much would all that money we wasted trying to be Mama and Papa to the rest of the world, done here to help our own country. A national debt, redicules. Free trade, bull crap. Letting business’s move to other countries and put Americans out of work and into poverty.
    My best imaginary creature, a honest politician but we keep voting for them, we let them get rich, we severance them, we let them be imune to the laws they pass, waste money on bull crap and let them remain in office for life,WTF. Who profits, not us.
    A wise man once asked;
    “To what state has this country fallen into when we the people must bow to those who are sworn to serve us?”

    What an example of dimwit politics! The 9/11 terrorists were Saudis and part of a CIA/Mossad/Saudi conspiracy. Afghanistan was a war to recapture control the drug trade which the Taliban was shutting down. All the wars in the Middle East have not been on terror but for Israel, the war racketeers and the mob. We should never have invaded any of those countries. Lindsay Graham is a bona fide American traitor. War monger. Dregs of humanity. Most criminal American politician in history after John McCain.
