Congressman Nadler Gets Nasty

Congressman Nadler Gets Nasty

With the control of the United States House of Representative transferring over to the Democrats, the new chairman of the Judiciary Committee is New York  Congressman Jerry Nadler.

During the campaign – and prior to the seating of the 116th Congress – Nadler repeatedly assured America that he and his fellow Democrats would be focusing on a legislative agenda – and not engage in an outrageous round of politically motivated investigations.  Yeah, right?  That was not credible when he said in his recent announcement suggesting that the ONLY thing in which he is interested in is investigation … investigation … investigation.

To understand why this is going to be a legislative ambush on the Trump presidency one has to get to know Nadler better.  The diminutive legislator – with signs of a Napoleonic Complex – he’s a rabid political Pitbull and one of the most stridently partisan members of Congress.  As part of the New York City left-wing establishment, Nadler is part of a political/media culture that is the proverbial tail that seeks to wag the American dog.  His liberal credentials are evidenced by his longtime association with left-wing extremist and socialist causes.  In 1977, Nadler joined the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC), and in 1983 became a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) — the same radical left organization from which Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rose.

Nadler covets the role of potential king-breaker.  Make no mistake about it.  His central objective is the impeachment of President Trump.  He and his Democrat colleagues on the Judiciary Committee are not conducting an investigation, but an inquisition.  It is Nadler’s obsession —  and he knows that he will have the biased support of a home town media that shares his politics and his goals.

This is not to say that Congress should abandon its oversight responsibilities – or that Trump has some issues that could use of “splaining.”  But what Nadler and a couple other newly ensconced chairmen are doing goes far beyond any concept of reasonable inquiry.

Nadler has announced that he wants to bring in more than 80 individuals to testify about every aspect of Trump’s life going back decades.  He proposed to subpoena tens of millions of documents – which will require the hiring of hundreds, if not thousands, of staffers and experts to cull through.

The New York congressman is proposing a political circus that will make the impeachment of President Clinton look like high school theater.  This is a political production.  Virtually everything that Nadler wants to showcase and hype is being investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller or any number of federal, state and local prosecutors.

Politicians on the left and right warned that nothing could happen until Mueller has issued his report.  That did not stop two years of negative speculation against Trump, and such prudence has not factored into Nadler’s thinking.

Nadler’s role is significant because it is the Judiciary Committee that launches impeachment proceedings.  While he claims that there is no decision on impeachment until they uncover the facts, what Nadler is doing is essentially launching an impeachment inquiry – and you can bet that he will move ahead with impeachment no matter what he finds.

It is essential to keep in mind that a congressional investigation is not a criminal proceeding.  The committee cannot indict anyone – much less the President.  But it is not necessary to find a crime to impeach a President; you just need to make him unpopular enough to get enough votes.  The Judiciary Committee could legally vote to impeach Trump just because they do not like his hairstyle.

As they oft say, “impeachment is a political process” – and Nadler going to extremes to prove it.  Impeachment is a nasty process, and there is not nastier guy in Congress to lead it.

So, there ‘tis.

Three branches of government: the Executive, the Judicial, and the Investigative, formerly the Legislative. Legislative functions have been abandoned by the Legislative in favor of endless investigation. The legislative functions have been abrogated to the permanent, unelected and unaccountable regulators whose regulations are extraconstitutional and have the effect of statutory law. To the Executive, wjich in the case of a radical liberal Executive employ a pen and a phone to enact law, and in the case of a Republican Executive, are thwarted at every turn by the Investigative. To the Judicial, who legislate from the bench, and provide a mechanism for a single Federal “judge” to enact the will of the minority upon the majority. The “Republican” members of the Investigative are powerless, even when in the majority.

This is a complete bastardization of the Constitution.
