Juan Williams Goes Off The Rails

There was a time when political satire and reality were readily distinguishable.  If one reads both the satirical publication, The Onion, and the New York Times, it was easy to tell fiction from facts – or in the case of the Times, their biased interpretation of facts.  Now, however, it seems satire has overtaken reality.

I could imagine picking up The Onion and seeing a very funny article about how President Trump was planning to retain the presidency in the event he loses the 2020 election.  The gifted comedic writers at The Onion would have us convulsing as they reported on their fictitious narrative.

They could not have done better than FOX News’ personality Juan Williams.  His reality-as-satire was an op-ed piece in The Hill – which covers Capitol Hill — but it was not satire despite having all the elements.

Williams hypothesized that it is possible that Trump will not give up the Oval Office if he does not like the outcome of the vote.  Really.  You cannot make this stuff up.

If you read Williams’ entire op-ed, he believes in the utter stupidity of the American people – especially Republicans.  This, of course, is the constant narrative with Williams’ cable news competitors – you know, CNN and MSNBC,  He is evidence that FOX stands alone among the big three cable news networks in providing meaningful balance in reporting and analyzing – at least meaningful until Williams joined the ranks of the unhinged.

The thrust of Williams op-ed is that the darkest elements of social media will make Trump a powerful figure beyond the office he holds.  He points the finger at 21-year-old Jacob Wohl who produced a lot of fake stories – and is proud of the fact.  His value to Williams is that the reprobate is a Trump supporter.

In fact, Williams equates Trump with Wohl – alleging that both make up stories to keep the ignorant base in line.  To Williams, the debate over the use of the words “invasion” or “crisis” in conjunction with the border is an example of outright lies.  Typical left-winger, Williams presumes that his OPINION is the truth.  Ergo all others are lies.

Williams chastises Trump for his “resentment against elites in colleges and Hollywood.”  In pegging them as “elites,” Williams is almost siding with Trump.  Academia and Tinseltown are almost unanimous in their resentment of Trump.  Perhaps, in Williams’ paranoid view of politics, he is fearful that Trump will shut down every college and ban all movies critical of … himself.  After all, this is all satire.

Williams went on to criticize Trump for his use of Twitter – not how Trump uses it, which is controversial, but the mere fact he does.   Williams quoted Trump as saying, “My use of social media is not Presidential.  It’s MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL.”   Trump is correct.  Social Media is what radio was to President Roosevelt, what television was to President Kennedy and what the Internet was to President Clinton.  It is merely the latest technology for communication.

According to Williams, Trump and his campaign are distorting reality on social media to distract and confuse voters. (There he goes again with the stupid people thing.)  While he claims that Trump is acting like Wohl, Williams fails to note that Wohl has been booted from Twitter.  Since the Trump ads have not, it is rather safe to assume that they pass the litmus test.  Williams is making a false comparison.

As you get to the end of Williams screed in The Hill, he loses all semblance of rationality as he dips his pen in the inkwell of satire.  Like all satire, it is an over-the-top exaggeration of a fact.  In this case, it is the statement by the nation’s leading prevaricator, Michael Cohen, who said he fears that if Trump loses the 2020 election “there will never be a peaceful transition of power.”

Williams closed his op-ed with this gem.

“It is no longer outside the realm of possibility that Trump could refuse to leave if he loses the 2020 election. And if he does not accept an election defeat — a scenario he threatened in 2016 — he will have a virtual army on social media to defend him.

Where does this stop?”

Good question, Juan.  Where does your kind of paranoid anti-Trump hatred stop?  It is Williams who has ventured outside the realm of possibility.

There is much to be criticized and debated about Trump – his personality and his policies – but this tin hat surrealism is a disservice to real news and real analysis.  You know, the kind Williams is supposed to professionally produce.

So, there ‘tis

Juan, you are an idiot! Democrats cannot deal with reality and you are certainly one of them. Trump isn’t my choice of President but is much better than any donkey that has come along recently. You people don’t know reality.

So what else is new? Goebbels, Alinsky, Lenin, Bubba, Obama and their cohorts believe truth is an impediment that commands no allegiance or sincerity.

It’s not that Williams is unable to distinguish between evil and virtue. He and his cohorts CHOOSE to bond with evil.

How many Liberals does Fox News have? Just Juan.
There is already a plan in place when Trump has served his second term, a Trump family member but not who most think it is.

I refuse to get sucked in to a purely theoretical argument. Once something actually concrete, happens, and someone is known to have done it, THEN and only then is there actually something worth reacting to.
Maybe. And even if it happens it still might not be worth my time of day.

Typical not-see response: “There’s nothing to see here. There’s no jihadist, Islamist terror. It’s all made up. There’s no WMD program in Iran. Donks around the country don’t routinely gussy themselves up in blackface and KKK sheets and hoods. Radical leftniks like Ilhan Omar, who married her brother, and AOC, who illegally funneled mountains of campaign cash to her boyfriend and illegal campaign organizations, don’t routinely break the law. If these things happened, the U.S. media would report it.

Juan Williams is the best example of the destruction of thought and understanding. Williams has always been a Democrat and, while I disagreed with him on many issues, his discussions were thoughtful. Until pres. Obama. Now Williams has to defend Obama at every turn and the Dems. who elected and still revere him. His behavior is obnoxious; his utter lack of thought and honest discussion, and his face-making when someone else is talking. He presents “facts” that are only facts in his mind. What a sad commentary on our current inability to have thoughtful, idea-driven, fact-based discussions.
