Senator Blumenthal the blowhard

Senator Blumenthal the blowhard

21:05 2019

When the good Lord was handing out arrogance, pomposity, sanctimony and hypocrisy, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal apparently made more than one trip through the line. He is what we in the old neighborhood called a “blowhard.” With little of import to say, his style is his substance. That is all you get. He sonorously pontificates on the same talking points in frequent media appearances as if he is providing new information or insight. He almost never does.

I added “hypocrisy” to his list of unenviable and egotistical character traits because his self-righteous demeanor always reminds me of his own lack of moral integrity. It has to do with his false biographical claim of having served in the war in Vietnam. It was a bald-faced lie, which he claimed – when caught – to have been a simple mistake. Apparently, he simply forgot that he did NOT fight in Vietnam. It is an important lie because it amounts to “stolen valor” – which in some cases is criminal.

In law, there is a Latin phrase – falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus. It means that if a person is dishonest in one matter, he (or she) can be considered dishonest in all matters. Blumenthal, himself, has used the phrase to discredit congressional witness – refusing to appreciate the application to himself. Personally, that phrase comes to mind every time I see the guy on the telly.

He was recently on MSNBC or CNN. I forget which, but it does not matter. He is one of their witnesses for the prosecution of Trump, Republicans and conservatives in the court-of-public-opinion – and that is virtually all that those two media outlets offer up.

So, what was the breaking anti-Trump news that justified yet another of Blumenthal’s appearances before the cameras? It seems he is introducing a bill to ensure that Special Counsel Robert Mueller will be able to complete his investigation and that it will be made public.

I have lost count how many times Democrats have offered up legislation to protect the Mueller investigation from being terminated by Trump even though there is no indication … nada … that Mueller is going to be fired. Every time Democrats warn against the imminent firing of Mueller by Trump, the President says he has no intention of doing so – and his aides and attorneys universally confirm that.

AND despite more than a year and a half of repeated media warnings – even claims — that Trump is on the verge of canning the special counsel, the President has not done so. It seems to suggest that this running narrative of dubious veracity is akin to that young boy crying wolf every day. There comes a time when a person should just stop believing those who proffer that discredited claim – and those who are too eager to report it over and over and over and over … and over.

Though the precise timing is yet to be determined, it is likely that Mueller is getting close to wrapping up his work. Even if he were fired, the investigation and its conclusive report would be impossible to stop. While the report has not been issued, most of it is already written in the rough draft based on almost two years of intense investigation. Most of what Mueller will ever learn he already knows – and Blumenthal know that. After all, he was one of those federal prosecutors.

So, the next time you see old Blumenthal making one of his ubiquitious appearances on the #NeverTrump Resistance Movement networks, giving his latest political proclamations, just remember — falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus.

So, there ‘tis.

You have got to be kidding! How can you complain about Blumenthal’s dubious relationship with the truth when you pander to a President who doesn’t even seem to know what truth is? I’m afraid, sir, that you are full of shit.

Chelemark, So since you can’t defend the lying scumbag Blumenthal you attack the author of the article. That’s what the snowflakes do, they can’t have their way so attack something else and try to run from the truth. Blumenthal should be indicted for stolen valor, if Trump said the same thing you shitheads would be calling for impeachment. Do us all a favor and the both of you should just end your miserable lives.

If it is within Blumenthal’s character to lie about serving in Vietnam, it could be within his character to pull shenanigans as a prosecutor–maybe prop up his success rate by withholding sculpatory evidence against a defendant?!

Why do people continue to read Larry’s articles when they disagree with everything he says. Always the same ones commenting. Why not go to a website where you agree? Just trouble makers is my guess.

He looks a LOT like Eliot Spitzer — client number 9 — doesn’t he?

Pretty much as ethical and straightforward as him, too.
