Shame on the Left for Politicizing the Death of a Child

Shame on the Left for Politicizing the Death of a Child

18:32 2018

Among the saddest of human tragedies is the death of a young child – whether it is from disease, accident or war. Nothing tugs at the human heart more than those too frequent images of dead children. Such images as that lifeless body on a European beach during the great Middle East migration, and of those children killed by chemical weapons in Syria, seem to remain seared into our memories forever.

Recently, a 7-year-old girl from Honduras – being accompanied by her father in the migrant caravan – reached the American border, where she fell ill. Despite the best efforts of the border patrol and the hospital to which she was taken, the girl died.

Death at the border is not new. Just days before the young girl arrived at the border, another migrant drowned attempting to cross a river. Multiple deaths have occurred in the cargo areas of sealed trucks because of high temperatures.

Approximately 250 people died at the border in 2017 – and that does not count those who may have died or been murdered along the trek through Mexico. It also does not include American border agents gunned down by the drug cartellians who routinely cross the border as the main delivery route for their malignant commerce.

Before the poor girl could be laid to rest, the vicious left pounced upon the tragedy to mount yet another attack on President Trump, Republicans and those people who are both protecting our borders and giving aid even to those who arrive illegally.

The Democrats and their media allies used the young girl’s death much like they used the separation of children from parents that has long occurred — and cannot be avoided in many cases — as an emotion-based tactic that ignored the realities of the situation.

If the father of the young girl is typical, we can assume that he is grieving deeply – and likely blaming himself for taking his daughter on the long pilgrimage. It turned out to be a mistake – a tragic mistake. The kind of unfortunate mistake we humans sometimes make even with the best of intentions.

The press was quick to cast the father as a sympathetic figure – even a bit of a victim himself, even though he bore the primary responsibility for the decision to bring his child on a treacherous 1000-mile pedestrian journey. We should not condemn him for his mistake, but we should not assign culpability to those who were not part of the decision.

Instead, the anti-Trump forces twisted the death into yet another attack on the President’s border policy even though this situation was not the result of any such policies. By implications, the press and its pathetic pundits implied contemptable disregard for the girl’s wellbeing on the part of the American border agents. In fact, it was their quick attention to the situation as soon as it became known, that almost saved the life of the girl. They did what that had to do to get her immediate medical attention and to a hospital as soon as possible – but it was too late.

Without any knowledge of the situation, the media reported that the girl was not given water soon enough – before dehydration killed her. The problem with that malicious and untrue “theory” is that the girl did not die from dehydration. She died from septic shock, from an infection that she most likely acquired as part of the caravan.

When the father of the girl said that she had been given great care by both the border workers and the hospital staff – that had twice pulled her back from cardiac arrest – MSNBC continued to report that the father was demanding an investigation because she was not properly attended to. That was a malicious lie – but then again, it was MSNBC,

Reporting the truth would have run counter to the media narrative that among the thousands of migrants there are no sick people and no criminals – just a bunch of women clutching young babies. In fact, 80 percent of the caravan was composed of single males – including 600 identified felons. Diseases – from colds to life-threatening maladies – required constant attention.

The fanciful Pollyanna reporting on the caravan population juxtaposed to the negative spin on the work of those protecting our borders is bad enough, but to spin the tragic death of a young girl into an utterly dishonest and despicable attack on Trump, Republicans and the border personnel is contemptible beyond words

So, there ‘tis.

Shame on you for defending the political act by a treasonous fool. Blaming the father for seeking asylum is ludicrous and bigoted—but that’s basically the Trump admin in a nutshell.

You make no sense. What “political act”?

President Trump had nothing to do with her death. The procedures for handling children at the border have not changed significantly since President Clinton.

She and her father were being transported safely and quickly (as opposed to walking 1,000 miles with inadequate preparation) by Border Patrol personnel when it was discovered that she was not well. She did NOT die of dehydration caused by the Border Patrol not giving her water. IF dehydration contributed to her death, it was because she was already severely dehydrated before she got to the border.

A bottle of water (which she probably DID get from one of the first BP agents she encountered) would NOT cure her of septic shock.

The father, IF he really IS her father (you don’t have proof he is), is primarily to blame. Taking her on a 1,000 mile hike across Mexico and the Sonoran Desert is a foolish thing to do.

If you did the same here, say, from Odessa, Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada and your child died, you would catch he!! from the press and likely be charged with negligent homicide.

The political act of frustrating and then banning asylum requests, and making up the idea of an immigrant caravan. That political act.

Torridjoe, you haven’t seen the photos of the caravan? Even the MSM admits there is a large group that has traversed Mexico from their southern border to Tijuana.

Torridjoe, the unruly group that invaded Tijuana has violated international law by NOT accepting Mexico’s offer of asylum. The US doesn’t have to even respond to their unlawful “asylum” requests.

Furthermore, poverty is not an internationally accepted qualification for asylum.

If MSNBC had reported the truth to begin with, there would be no spin from either political party.

These people don’t seem very smart. I don’t know anyone who would imperil his family, especially to this degree. Perhaps they should pick up a firearm, go home and defend their families.

We don’t know for sure if he was really the girl’s father. Just ’cause he says so doesn’t mean much.

The girl would have lived had she been given water. Period. Your Right Wing comments about her father doing wrong by taking her to the border is crazy. I guess someone just needs to tell you that you are “Full Of Shit”. We have too many Right Wing folks that need to be told this.

The man was not the girls father. He was just using her. Check the facts, there is more to the story than what was reported.

I am not so sure that all sides are right in this but all have an opinion that they are right! Stop trying to fix blame and help. We can make it a blame game or we can work together! Just fix it!
