The first 2020 Democrat poll is out … and why do we care?

In little over a month since the polls closed on the 2018 midterm election, we now have the first poll to tell us what is shaping up for the 2020 presidential election as far as the Democrats are concerned – as reported on MSNBC.

This poll should come with a disclaimer that it is worthless, useless and meaningless. It tells us NOTHING about the prospects 23 months hence – even though it purports to do just that. But that did not prevent MSNBC from covering the poll as if it had newsworthiness. They even impaneled some of their patronizing panelists to analyze this bit of irrelevancy.

They did concede that it is too early to take the poll too seriously. That is one hell of an understatement. If it is not to be taken seriously, why even report about it? Maybe it is because the poll was conducted by MoveOn.org – one of the left’s favorite organizations. Maybe it was because of how the candidates ranked.

And now I have to write about it if for no other reason than to refute the importance the news media gave this exercise in irrelevancy. Well … I really do not HAVE to write about it, but I will.

At the top of the poll was … drum roll, please … we do not know. No. I do not mean that we do know who got the highest percentage “we do not know” got the highest percentage at 25 percent. One-quarter of those polled had no idea who they wanted to support as the Democrat standard bearer in 2020. I consider them the most intelligent respondents

The second highest percentage was garnered by … another drum roll? … never mind … Beto O’Rourke. Of the nine POTENTIAL candidates that got named in the poll, the favorite was the recently defeated Texas Senate candidate – who spend a record $70 million to come in second in a two-man race. He garnered a measly 15.6 percent of the poll to claim the favorite spot.

In second place with 14.9 percent of the vote was former Vice President Joe Biden. The progressives are split between new blood and old whatever. Senator Bernie Sanders came in third – representing the divide between the slick attired wing of the progressive movement represented by Biden and the crumpled Sanders’ wing.

California Senator Kamala Harris broke the all-male run with a 10 percent fourth-place showing, followed by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren with just 6.4 percent. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, billionaire Michael Bloomberg and last, but not … ok… last and least, New Jersey Senator Cory “Spartacus” Booker rounded out the list, all in the two-percentile range.

I did find something exciting on this list of irrelevant information. There was no Hillary Clinton – not even in the two percent or less category. Apparently, the lack of ticket sales for her and Bill’s current national tour is not an anomaly. She is not even picking up a sympathy vote.

The MSNBC panel noted that in 2016, the MoveOn.org poll had Sanders in first place and Warren in second. I pass that along because the folks at MSNBC thought it important to mention – although for the life of me I do not know why.

Now that we have explored the primrose path of pathetic punditry, in the future I shall try stick to subjects that actually have some semblance of importance.

So, there ‘tis.

To run for any political office you should be required to run under your real name not an alias like Beto and God help this Country if any of these bums get elected!

The DEMONocrats are pitiful and pathetic. THEY HAVE NOTHING! They can’t even talk trash anymore like: “vote for me and I’ll bring back jobs”- President Trump has already done that! They can’t say, “vote for me and I’ll …..for you.” Chances are, Trump has DONE what you DEMONocrats have always promised what you will do. Maybe that is a big reason why they don’t like him…now they don’t have a platform anymore because President Trump has accomplished what they have always said they were going to do. He has exposed their corruption and lies- big time.

Dear Mr. Horist, I enjoy your column. You write with wit and not contempt. You are like the Audrey Meadows’ character “Alice” from “The Honeymooners”, that great tv show from the 1960’s with Jackie Gleason and Art Carney. When Audrey Meadows gave her husband “Ralph” (played by Gleason) a dry and sometimes sarcastic response, “Ralph” would always say: “You’re a riot, Alice.” 😎

    G’day to Larry H from Australia & a very Merry Christmas greeting to all;

Thank you a real bunch Larry on your quite satirical take on the recent MoveOn.org Democratic Poll. Any fair-minded comedian could take it on stage, read it as it is & have the audience rolling in the aisles, howling with laughter.

Pols are polls, & all they represent is a mere, small portion of the entire populous of a given demographic. They can never be completely accurate because they haven’t approached ” every resident ” in that demographic area.

The DNC impeaching the POTUS? BIG FAIL No. 1. Take back the White House, the Congress & the Senate in 2020? BIG FAIL No. 2.

The likelihood is them being kicked out en masse in Washington DC & from State Legislatures across the USA? Because the more you deceive, bully & harass your supporters, the more they will permanently walk away & vote for common sense, election time.

You are as much trash as those you write about. I don’t find anything you write to be mentally rendering as something to be wiser by as you spew the same junk as the rest of the jerks who occupy so many hours of television screen needlessly.
