Ocasio Cortez: A Slow-Moving Temper Tantrum

Ocasio Cortez: A Slow-Moving Temper Tantrum
November 26
19:22 2018

The soon-to-be congresswoman from New York’s 14th District, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is starting to remind me of a talking doll. No! I am not referring to her gender in the spirit of Frank Sinatra in “Guys and Dolls.” That would be a mortal sin in the religion of political correctness – which is meaningless in my case since I am not a communicant.

I mean one of those toy dolls that speak when you pull the string in its back. What you get is a series of brief and predictable cliché statements. After a few dozen tugs on the string, it can get a bit annoying.

Ocasio-Cortez seems to have one of those strings – figuratively, of course. Every time it is pulled, she emits some whiny statement reflecting her belief in her victimhood because she is a woman and a minority – a twofer in the world of identity politics.

She is the youngest woman ever elected to the United States Congress – a noteworthy accomplishment in and of itself– and looks even younger than her 29 years. Due to her age and appearance, she was mistaken for an intern on one occasion and directed to the visitors’ gallery on another. Those are the kind of first-day stories that politicians shrug off with a laugh and repeat in speeches for the rest of their careers.

Not if you are an open-wound of self-victimization, however. To Ocasio-Cortez, these were examples of an oppressive society marginalizing her – and all women and minorities – to a brutalized underclass.

Those who were not aware of her identity unwittingly pulled that string on Ocasio-Cortez’ back and out came a series of radical left-wing rants against men, sexists, racists and established authority – the four horsemen of her personal PC apocalypse.

No women have gone to Congress as young as Ocasio-Cortez – and damn few as good looking. Perhaps she should have seen the compliment and the humor in the perceptive error. But if you are an open wound of victimization, a sense of humor is not one of your core characteristics.

Ocasio-Cortez’ demand for a bit more respect in the halls of Congress notwithstanding, she did join with approximately 200 demonstrators from a couple of radical anti-Nancy Pelosi environmental groups — Justice Democrats and the Sunrise Movement — in a demonstration at the office of the soon-to-be Speaker, who was not in at the time. More than 50 were arrested, but somehow Ocasio-Cortez slipped away – wink, wink.

In an official statement, Pelosi said, “We are inspired by the energy and activism of the many young activists and advocates leading the way on the climate crisis, which threatens the health, economic security and futures of all our communities.”

In Washington-speak – in case Ocasio-Cortez is not aware – Pelosi’s statement was her version of having her string pulled. It was kneejerk cliché rhetoric meaning the entire demonstration was irrelevant to Pelosi’s business of lining up votes for the upcoming Speaker election. Regarding Ocasio-Cortez’ participation, the reference to “energy and activism,” as opposed to the substance of the issue, was a Pelosi’s condescending pat on the head suggesting immaturity on the part of the congresswoman-to-be.

Much of Ocasio-Cortez’ “energy and activism” is not going to sit well with New York’s Jewish community. She has clearly staked out a full range of Pro-Arab, pro-Palestinian positions. Pull the Middle East string and you will hear about Israelis massacring the Palestinians without any concern about the constant bombardment and attack on Israel. Her string-generated statements are too short for any form of complexity.

After talking about the need for new leadership in Congress, Ocasio-Cortez is going to vote for Nancy Pelosi. Yeah. The lady she was demonstrating against not so long ago. She is not joining the 16 Democrats who sent a letter maintaining their campaign promises to vote against Pelosi.

And why, pray tell, has she joined the Pelosi team? Because most of those who signed the letter are … men. Even worse, white men. They lack diversity. Does not matter that they are Democrats and progressives. They are men, and that is a deal breaker for Ocasio-Cortez.
In an expression of left-wing arrogance, she further claimed that her Democrat male colleagues lacked “vision.” It would seem that anyone who does not agree with Ocasio Cortez’s far left political and social views is just vision blind. Like the radical left she represents, there are no overarching principles — no inalienable rights – just arbitrary transactional policies predicated on acquisition of power.

Hmmmm. Does she know that when she takes her seat in Congress, she will be surrounded by a majority of men – on both sides of the aisle?

Ocasio-Cortez has gained fame, which means that she will pop up in radio and television interviews ad nauseam. Her lovely face will be memorialized on newsprint across the nation. For America’s fawning news media, Ocasio-Cortez is and will remain a featured viewpoint on every issue.

Unfortunately, there are only so many cliché’s statements that can be provoked by a pull of her political string. Even her Democrat colleagues may eventually get annoyed by her thematic and hateful whining. And as a member of Congress, she is most likely to be little more than a slow-moving temper tantrum emitting repetitious talking points every time someone pulls her string.

So, there ‘tis.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and my opinion is just as valid as the next person. I see no beauty coming from her heart or spirit.

You are right. The only beauty she has is just barely skin deep, and that will quickly fade away as her hatred and anger will rapidly turn her into a bitter and twisted crone.

No one “hates” her! They are just pointing out the obvious…Ocasio is annoying! Why would any political foe fear someone who’s ignorant mouth is her own enemy? I wonder if Ocasio-Cortez will reimburse the government for her welfare cheating days?

Try as I might, I just don’t see her as even remotely pretty. Actually, she is very often referenced as “horse face”. Not that horses aren’t pretty, but not so much if you’re not actually a horse.

Ocasio-Cortez IS pretty — in a Joy Behar – Chelsea Rodham – Beatrice Arthur — Betty Friedan – Bella Abzug – Linda Hunt – Chaz Bono – Susan Boyle – Helen Thomas – Mr. Ed kind of way.
See? It’s always possible to speak diplomatically.

I agree she is rather attractive but as she is a woman (obviously) and more importantly a Muslim woman, one is not supposed to mention it. I wonder how she will be able to fit in so closely with men, as she represents a community in which young people are educated as far as possible without coming into close proximity to the opposite sex. It is noteworthy to remember that she has been elected because large numbers of migrants have been allowed to establish
virtually one faith commnunities in USA. Meaning that the number of Muslims elected basically by Muslims is going to increase over time.

This is a typical hit piece article which points out the very things which Cortez complains about. I’m sure conservatives like Horist will wince and will find fault every time someone points out their hypocrisy. Cortez is a minor blimp on the political scene with very little power or influence. The constant attack on her, despite her not being a danger to the anti-people policies of both parties, is relentless and is indicative that the corporate shills from both parties must keep the truth from the general population.

Instead of discussing issues brought up by very few politicians like Cortez, they are mocked and called whiney. We expect this from highly partisan and compromised people like Horist, but what is even more disconcerting is that reactionary minds fall for it.
