Democrat Fundraising Fraud

Democrat Fundraising Fraud

The End Citizens United Political Action Committee (PAC) is among the more aggressive Democrat fundraising groups. I get their email solicitation as part of my effort to see what the other side is up to. At 10:50 p.m. on Sunday night, I received yet another panic-laced email. It came from “Miracle in Texas” and in the subject line read, “We’re choking back tears.”

In the body of the email, it said: “With only 2 days to go, our bank account is DRAINED.” It showed one of those descending red graph lines under the words, “Bank account funds to elect Beto O’Rouke completely bankrupt.” It went on to say that they needed “65, 234 donations to get Democrats to the polls in Texas.” To stress the opportunity, the communication claimed that the race between O’Rouke and Senator Ted Cruz is tied even though every poll shows Cruz ahead. They lied.

The communication is also deceptive because it is unlikely that any of this money will benefit O’Rouke. They say there are two days left, but that would put the time to influence the election with money at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday night – hours after the polls have closed.

But even if you considered only the one day, there is not enough time to get more money to O’Rouke – and especially to have it spent. Virtually everything that can be purchased with money has been purchased already.

When End Citizens United says that the fund is bankrupt, they are not talking about O’Rouke’s campaign account – which still presumably has money. He has raised record amounts of money, and these guys never run their multimillion dollar accounts down to zero.

End Citizens United is talking about their own PAC account, and even that is not true. The PAC has money, but maybe not in an account with O’Rouke’s name on it – if there ever was such a thing. They are not necessarily donating the money to O’Rouke even if that is the impression. At best, they will spend some money on his behalf – although, at this stage, it is difficult to know what that could be.

And keep in mind that they are looking for LOTS of money in this eleventh hour. They want almost 65,000 donors – not dollars. If successful, that would result in the PAC gaining hundreds of thousands of dollars that would still be in their coffers after the election is over. To say that they are raising all that money to help O’Rouke is tantamount to fraud.

Then there is a PAC called Bold Democrats. They use the same scary techniques, but there was something even more corrupt about them.

I have been getting their solicitation emails on a daily basis – often several times a day. But two solicitations stuck out for me. Why? Because they came from … me. That’s right. In the “from” box was my email address. This means that Bold Democrats were bold enough to hack my computer or purchased a list from someone who had that was using my contact list.

I consider this a rather serious matter, so I filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission. So far, I am still awaiting a response – any response – even just a recognition that they had received my complaint. But, nothing.

One would hope that even after this election is settled, someone — like the FEC – would care about such shenanigans. I am betting that there will be no investigation in the fundraising methods of End Citizens United PAC or any response to my complaint to the FEC about Bold Democrats.

So, there ‘tis.

I get the same bs from Giffords.org, just to see what is going on. They often start with “Here’s the truth:” followed by a load of crap.

I noticed that the same day one report had Ted Cruz up by 8 points a solicitor of my money online begged: “Urgent! Donate! Ted is down 6 points!”
