Is attempting to kill a congressional candidate news?

If the candidate is a Republican, apparently not.

If you are among the ill-informed who stay glued to MSNBC or CNN, you are likely not to have heard that Republican congressional candidate Rudy Peters was attacked by a knife-wielding man in California.  After screaming his hatred for Trump in what has been described as “a profanity-laced” screed and yelling “I’m going to kill you MF-er! I’m going to kill you!,” 25-year-old Farzad Fazeli brandished an illegal  switchblade knife to carry out his threat.  Fortunately, the weapon malfunctioned, and the blade would not snap open — and fortunately Peters is a pretty big guy.  The assailant was subdued before he could kill the candidate.

Fazeli was arrested and charged with felony assault, criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and possession of a switchblade knife. His family put up the $55,000 bond and the maniacal Fazeli is back on the street – although with a court order to stay away from Peters.  In a novel defense, Fazeli’s attorney said his client was acting in self-defense.  He was afraid for his life.  Sadly, that sort of nonsense could work in the courts in loony California.

I had to laugh at CBS.  They gave the incident brief coverage reporting only that a man “allegedly” attempted to stab Peters.  Allegedly?  When you see that kind of reporting you can understand why Fazeli’s lawyer’s cockamamie legal defense might just might work.

So, why virtually no news coverage beyond  FOX News? Was it because it was a Republican candidate?  That should be obvious.

If the liberal press will not cover an attempted murder of a congressional candidate, you cannot expect them to report the vandal attack on the Nebraska GOP headquarters, the dead fish attack on another and a car intentionally crashed into yet another. And there are more.  Then there are all those assaults on public officials from the Trump administration incited by California (figures) Congresswoman Maxine Waters and others.

But all this is consistent with one of my commentaries noting that the left sees violence as a legitimate means to an end. It is the victim’s fault, they say.  When the radicals cannot win in the voting booth, they attack in the streets.  It has been  so since the 1960s when people like Bill Ayers, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Tom Hayden (Jane Fonda’s ex-husband), Rennie Davis and others introduced street violence, domestic terrorism and cop-killing as the political tactic of choice.

Peters’ Democrat opponent, incumbent congressman and frequent guest on left-wing television Eric Swalwell issued the obligatory statement via Twitter.

“On Sunday, my opponent @PetersCongress was attacked at his campaign booth in Castro Valley. I’m glad to hear Mr. Peters is okay. But it’s NEVER okay to use violence to settle political disagreements (or any disagreement). Fortunately, @ACSOSheriffs arrested the suspect.

Swalwell’s concern may have been more convincing if I had ever seen him condemning all that violence on the left.  It is that lack of serious condemnation that encourages these physical and verbal attacks on Republicans.

I’m mortified that anyone would suggest that members of the party of John Wilkes Booth and Robert Byrd would in any way countenance violence.

By the way, if you’re attacked with a machete and you deserved it, it’s not violence. It’s JUSTICE.

There’s much more to say but I’m late to the daily Donk Party cross-burning and synagogue-defacing outing.

    We shall overcome.

The only thing that will bring us out of this depression is free energy, hydrogen from water, have this as your debate, you can make all the hydrogen, as you drive from a tank of water, you know our space shuttles, are powered by hydrogen / oxygen made from water, tell every one not buy a new car / truck, to boycott the auto company’s, when they can’t sell their pieces of junk low mileage vehicles, they will have to bring out water to hydrogen powered vehicles, and kits to change the vehicles now that we have, just think what our world would be like with free energy. Do you want your world back? spread the word boycott the auto company’s that are destroying our world. the inventor of the water to hydrogen auto was murdered by our Democrat Government, get mad get real mad of the Democrats.

Also audit all the Senator’s and representatives, they have wasted, and stole our money, make them repay all, and tax them.
Do these 2 things, and the Demo rats will be finished, don’t do this and the civil war, will escalate, and the economy will collapse

The loony left MSM is still trying to figure out how “unnamed” sources can blame the victim.

First, I probably read about it in Fox News when it popped up on my iPhone.

Second, you don’t seem to tell it entirely and the full story makes certain things clearer. As I read it, Fazeli didn’t pull out the switchblade until after Peters, a Navy veteran, grabbed him and threw him down on the floor, or the ground. When he did pull it out, yes, it malfunctioned. This makes the attorney’s “self-defense” argument less irrational, since Peters did lay hands on him first. (That doesn’t mean I side with Fazeli.)

I only see CNN at all because where I work it’s the mandatory station on the lunchroom TV. (Fortunately once in a while someone at another branch office forgets to pay the cable bill and it shuts off for a few days.) I ignore MSNBC and the others. So thanks for letting me know they didn’t cover it at all.

The Islam nutcase physically attacked the congressional candidate. Strange you omitted that part. In fact, YOU are the one intentionally shifting focus from who was the aggressor.

I guess to you, the person who initiates an attack on another is the victim when the target fights back.
