Latest Left-Wing Idiocy: Subpoena the Interpreter

I could hardly believe my ears when I watched the elfish Massachusetts Congressman Joseph Kennedy on CNN proposing to … shaking my head here … subpoena President Trump’s interpreter during the private meeting with Russian President and all around bad dude Vladimir Putin.

No one in their right mind could possibly believe that interpreters during such a private meeting can or should be subject to a subpoena any more than the person whose words they are interpreting. If that were the case, there could never be a private meeting or a secret discussion.

Now I suppose that there are some on the left who actually believe that the world would be a better place if every conversation — except their own, of course – would be open to the public.

One can surely understand the curiosity. Who would not want to know what was said between Trump and Putin? Who would not want to be that proverbial fly on the wall? Let’s face it, It is human nature to eavesdrop.

In making this suggestion – or was it a demand? – Kennedy well knows that the subpoena idea will go nowhere. First, he surely knows that the Republicans in the House would never do it – and they are the ones who control that decision at this moment in time. It is highly unlikely that Democrats would do it even if they controlled Congress. It is that stupid of an idea.

Democrats must really be losing it to come up with this one. It is not only a bad idea, it is an obvious and farcical political stunt. A good political stunt should be at least credible. This one fails the smell test. Only the most hardcore Trump hater would buy into it because they view all things through an anti-Trump filter.

Since no one knows for a fact what was said in that room, the #NeverTrump resistance movement has shifted the speculation transmission into fourth gear. Without a scintilla of knowledge or evidence, they speculate that the president has ceded East Europe to Putin. If that sounds like an exaggeration, you have not checked out MSNBC in the past few days – not that you should.

This goes along with their hyper-hyperbolic claims that Trump has destroyed NATO — even though one might see his demands for more military spending by member nations as strengthening NATO. But, when you operate off hate, logic is not your strong point.

Then there is former CIA Director John Brennan accusing Trump of “high crimes and misdemeanors” and “treason.” This from a guy who had to admit during a polygraph test that he voted for the Communist Party in 1980.

If you read my follow up to the Trump-Putin summit, meeting or whatever you want to call it, I was very critical of Trump’s performance. He flubbed it. But that is a long was from treason.

It was not long ago when we did eavesdrop on a private presidential conversation. Just before his re-election in 2012, President Obama met with the Russian (Putin puppet) President Dmitri Medvedev. Not knowing he was near a hot microphone, Obama leaned close to Medvedev and said, “This is my last election … After my election, I have more flexibility” – referring to U.S. missile defense plans. Medvedev responded, “I will transmit this information to Vladimir.”

The CIA Director at that time did not call out the president. He did not use the word “treasonous” to characterize Obama’s conniving with the Ruskies. And who was that CIA Director at the time? It was … drum roll … that Communist loving, Trump hating John Brennan.

Congressman Kennedy, and all those other Democrats and cable news personalities supporting, by lack of condemnation, the idea of subpoenaing the interpreter should heed that old adage that “curiosity killed the cat.”
