George Will: No Longer a Conservative Republican

George Will: No Longer a Conservative Republican

A little more than one month ago, I wrote a column critical of George Will’s hyper-hyperbolic attack on Vice President Pence as “America’s most repulsive figure.” The only surprise in Will’s one-sided vitriol was that he had come to hate Pence more than he hates Trump.

Apparently Will has learned that to get his columns passed around the elitist east coast media – and get invited back on MSNBC — he must heap unwarranted criticism, dubious condemnation and grossly exaggerated characterizations of all things Trump, Republican and conservative.

In his most recent column, headlined “Vote against the GOP this November,” Will has joined the partisan campaign to elect enough Democrats to Congress to take control of the House and maybe the Senate. In a speech before the conservative Federalist Society, he went beyond his call to elect Democrats to the Congress and pledged himself to help defeat Trump in 2020 – either in a primary (of which he is no longer a participant) or in the general election.

He has not only shown an unwavering and nonobjective disdain for President Trump but has given up all allegiance to conservative principles. The one-time Republican conservative columnist is now totally part of the liberal Democrat establishment in Washington even though he only switched his registration from Republican to “unaffiliated.”

Why do I say that he has now betrayed conservative principles he once embraced? Quite simply, if you want to empower the left-leaning Democratic Party, you are no conservative. Although he may try to squirm out of the reality of opposition to Republican governance, Will is now in favor of blocking Trump’s conservative appointments to the federal judiciary – and maybe even a conservative Supreme Court justice or two. That is a fundamental betrayal.

He now supports abortion on demand – even late-term abortions. He favors tax increases and the continued growth of an increasingly oppressive federal government. He is against deregulation. He is against school choice – a program that would have exceptional benefit for inner-city minorities. He is against immigration reform that will secure the border against illegal entry. He is for sanctuary cities. He would like to see impeachment proceedings initiated by the House. And the list goes on.

The metamorphosis might have been foretold in May of 2017 when he switched from being a contributor for FOX News to take up a similar role for NBC and MSNBC. Or maybe it was inevitable with his long association with the Washington Post. These outfits do not provide a platform for real conservatives. His role is to at least try to remain as a false flag conservative to give the Democrats an appearance of broad support. Consistent with what is called his “excoriating writing style” (that means nasty), Will relies on exaggerated, albeit well-written, accusations against the GOP in all its manifestations to overcome the decrepitude of his arguments.

Will is no longer a commentator on current events. He has joined the #NeverTrump resistance movement and embraced that call to never “normalize” the president. He also takes up the movement’s command to vilify all those who do not join in the left-wing media feeding frenzy. In a painful reach for alliteration, Will calls House Speaker one of the “President’s poodles.” It is a canine allusion from someone who has become Nancy Pelosi’s lapdog.

Hence forth, Will will be the darling of the radical left, but it is not likely that he will have much influence on Republicans and conservatives who focus on issues rather than personalities and bright shiny objects.

I used to enjoy Mr. Will’s comments when he was on various programs but when I learned he was an atheist,I decided that he obviously wasn’t as smart as he portrayed himself to be.

I didn’t know the atheism angle. Mr. will obviously worships his own intellect as do many on the left. There is no place for God in all that.

Will has the reputation of an elitist who thinks and speaks over the average American. Truth is he is 40 years behind where we are today and nobody who has a working brain buys his BS anymore.
He is done and still a nerd who is out of touch with reality.

George Will is a TRUE CONSERVATIVE – Trump is an extreme nativist and white supremacist in his political leanings PLUS totally dedicated to make the most economic profit for himself and his family for as long as the nation puts up with him.
