The Infamous G7 photograph

Correction for you know-it-all news folks. G7 is not hyphenated. You do not see the hyphen on their signs or their literature. I have had to make that correction, myself. Glad to get that off my chest.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. The corollary, however, is that the thousand words may be a bunch of horse manure. This is the case for that one photograph (above) out of those thousands of images recorded at the G7 meeting. This photograph has been displayed prominently and repeatedly across the #NeverTrump media.

I cannot recall a photograph that was so broadly psychoanalyzed by so many unqualified people – as if any one photograph can every show the thinking of the parties. But let’s look at what the #NeverTrump pseudo-psychiatrists had to say.

One MSNBC contributor saw Trump being scolded by Angela Merkel like a schoolboy facing the principal after acting badly. I suppose the school analogy has to do with the fact that it is a woman giving stern rebuke to a sitting male. We do tend to think of principals and teachers as women even though that is not entirely fact-based.

Of course, we know nothing of the actual conversation. Merkel could have been inviting him to dinner or even complimenting him on his tie. Well, maybe not the tie. Or maybe she was saying, “Your right, we really do need to pony up our agreed-to share of the NATO defense funding.”

Others saw something else in the image: a defiant president, rejecting whatever Merkel was saying on behalf of the other six members of the G7. “Standing alone,” they said, against the onslaught of universal allied criticism. If you just judge the attitudes of those in the photograph on pure imagery – which is impossible, of course – it does strike me as Trump and others, including Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, are forming a wall of opposition to Merkel. I do not know that to be the case, but my impression is as valid, or invalid, as all those other politically motivated fantasies the media is propagating as legitimate.

Now juxtapose that image with all the other photographs of Trump and the G7 leaders smiling, shaking hands and patting each other on the back. Those have been interpreted as superficial by the #NeverTrump press. Behind those broad smiles, five men and a woman were seething. Our chroniclers of the press apparently have some unique Fourth Estate extrasensory perception that enables them to read minds by looking at photographs.

The extraordinary attention given to this photograph is yet another example of the press’s myopic attention to irrelevancies – irrelevancies crafted to besmirch Trump — while failing to report substance or what one might refer to as “news.”

It would be news if Trump supporters didn’t whine so much every time their leader gets called out for bad behavior.

Whomever is ignorant enough to make such a comment as what was stated in article (Merkel scolding President) proves the statement “ignorant.” Macron is the one speaking, Japan’s leader is looking sternly at whatever garbage is spewing from his mouth, Merkel looks meek & submissive. Clearly the brain-dead “other side” have no abilities whatsoever, not even the ability to read/understand body language. PresTrump is holding back a smirk (or laugh) knowing HE IS THE LEADER OF THE WORLD!!

The photograph, sir, reflects the mind set attendees had based on the quotes and comments that were made by these people at the conference reacting to Trump. All the other “photo-op” photos are fake smiles and glad handing because it IS a basic “Photo-Op. The shooter captured the essence of what we all read about. It is without a doubt – Worth a thousand words!

The problem, Eric, is that Trump gets called out by the media for ANY behavior.
They try to make EVERYTHING he does appear in a bad light.
I’m sure you miss the days when we had Obama screwing up America.

Then again, sometimes A PICTURE REALLY IS WORTH 1,000 WORDS.

    This one seems pretty self-explanatory.
