James Risen runs a blog called The Intercept. It is likely you have never heard of him or his online publication. Risen’s reputation does not precede him.

This is not to say that he isn’t well received inside the liberal media bubble. He has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize by his peers. The Pulitzer is an award generally bestowed on liberal journalists by liberal journalists. It rewards points-of-view over journalistic accomplishments.

Risen may have been completely off my radar had he not been a guest on MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell show. Anyone familiar with O’Donnell knows where this is heading.

What caught O’Donnell’s left eye – the only one out of which he can see – was a long part-one article headlined in bold upper case: “IS DONALD TRUMP A TRAITOR?” Of course, that was merely a rhetorical question to be answered in the affirmative by Risen’s screed. Part-two is promised at some future date.

I can hardly wait.

The reason that Risen was plucked out of oblivion by O’Donnell is obvious. There is no attack on Trump that is too dishonest, too outrageous or frankly too ridiculous to be ignored by the odious O’Donnell.

It is humorously ironic that Risen starts his 5400-word character assassination (not including photos and captions) with this one-sentence paragraph: “I find it hard to write about Donald Trump.” From the length of the article, one might assume that Risen is very excited to write about Trump. (Oh! Maybe I misread the meaning of his first sentence.)

Risen’s next paragraph sets the tone.

“It is not that he [Trump] is a complicated subject. Quite the opposite. It is that everything
about him is so painfully obvious. He is a low-rent racist, a shameless misogynist, and an
unbalanced narcissist. He is an unrelenting liar and a two-bit white identity demagogue. Lest
anyone forget these things, he goes out of his way each day to remind us of them.”

Is this the sort of childish writing that wins Pulitzer Prizes? I guess so.

Risen very quickly poses the question, “What more can I add?” Apparently, a lot in more than 5400 words with part two in the offing. I doubt Risen realizes how ridiculous he appears – in fact, I am sure of it.

There is not sufficient space here to do a full critique of Risen’s work – and even if there were, I would not be inclined to do so. If you want to engage in simultaneous laughter and outrage, you can look up the article yourself. I do not mind giving it publicity since it shows how morally and ethically bankrupt a leftist writer can be. There is a reason – and a good one – why voting Americans have been rejecting these types of arrogant left wingers for the past ten years.
