Nancy Pelosi: Let ’em Eat Crumbs

Democrats, hoping beyond hope that the Trump/Republican tax bill would not pass, got four Pinocchios from the Washington Post for saying average Americans would get no benefit. Unfortunately for them, the bill became law and the American public now has hard evidence to dispel those bogus political claims.
Now that millions of Americans are getting pay raises, bonuses and less withholding, one-percenter ($40+ million) Nancy Pelosi is calling $1000 bonuses and other benefits “crumbs.” Yep! Crumbs – and this “crumbs” contention is now becoming the central narrative of the Democratic Party.
Keep in mind, this is from a political party that had not given the American worker a pay raise for eight years. Nancy, wasn’t it your party that reduced the income of all those seniors on Social Security you claim to love by not giving increases equal to inflation – and in at least one year, no increase at all? And what about the lower withholding from all those paychecks? More crumbs? Weren’t you in charge when the withholding rate was going up … and up … and up?
Nancy, let me explain. Those crumbs you talk about will provide approximately four months’ worth of groceries for an average family – and more for the poor. It is a month’s mortgage payment for most families. That covers the co-pay for more than 50 doctor visits for your average patient. It will pay for 20 to 30 months of an average phone or water bill. It will purchase all the clothes a kid needs for school and play. It’s a down payment on a car. For many families, it is more than their entire annual Christmas budget.
Crumbs, Nancy? That $1000 bonus alone will pay for approximately 500 boxes of breadcrumbs at the local store – enough for more than 1500 pounds of turkey stuffing. As a political turkey, you know what you can do with your crummy statement.
